Friendship & Cultural Relations Organisations
As mentioned before ‘The Universe’ had established friendship and cultural relations with many countries.. The main purpose of these friendship organisations was to project our cultural heritage to the International arena and also to acquaint our people with the great traditions of other people. Dignitaries from various countries had visited Odisha under different friendship and cultural banners and vice versa.
Some of these friendship and cultural relations organisations and their significant achievements are as follows:
- Society for German Studies and Relations
Apart from cultural exchanges, this organisation was promoting German Language courses for the people of Odisha.
- Friends of the Soviet Union
This organisation had sent three delegations (Year- 1987,1988, 1989) to the undivided USSR, comprising all total ten members, who were from different walks of life. Moreover, two students had been to the undivided USSR for higher studies.
- Indo-Cuba Friendship Society
- India-Canada Cultural Relations Associations
- India-Arab Society
- India-Scandinavian Friendship Society
- India-Poland Friendship Society
- India-Hungary Friendship Society
- India-Bulgarian Friendship Society
In 1979, a delegation of children from Odisha had visited Bulgaria to participate in the World Children’s Festival.
- India-czech & Slovak Friendship Society

- India-France Cultural Association
A French language class was taking place under the banner of this association.
- India-Iraq Friendship Society
- Indo-Romanian Friendship Society
- Indo-Japan Friendship Cultural Relations Society
Under this banner, every year Children Festival used to take place in the campus of “The Universe”. This festival was dedicated to the innocent victims of the Atomic Holocaust. During this week-long event, students from different schools of Odisha used to participate in 45 different types of competitions. At one point of time, it was recorded as the biggest Children Festival Event of India’s Eastern Zone, when the number of participants on a particular year went up to 2000. Dignitaries from Japan had graced this event in different times to motivate participants.
- India-China Friendship Society
The main highlight of this committee was to send delegations from Odisha to China. There were 5 delegations (from 1980 to 1985) visiting China, which comprised all total 40 members. They were mainly social workers, bureaucrats, politicians, engineers, artistes, scientists, doctors etc. The main purpose of sending these delegations was to strengthen the great tradition of friendship between the two countries. Certainly, it helped in building the bondage after the sorrowful events of 1962.
- Indo-Mongolia Friendship Society
Our founder was the first from Odisha to visit Mongolia for promotion of friendship between our two countries.
- India-Italia Friendship Society
Awareness Programmes
CCGR (The Universe) has organised more than 2000 weekly awareness programmes. The voyage of the awareness programmes, which started way back in early 80s of the 20th Century, gave an impetus to people’s inquisitiveness. Every Friday, a speaker of repute was invited to speak on the topic of relevance.
These awareness programmes had continued till the onslaught of the pandemic in 2020.
